  BALLAST
Pool Swim Platforms

- The components are thermoplastic and will "float" when put in water.
- Simply filling the tubes with water will not make the structures sit on the bottom
- You need to add the appropriate weight to each structure

OPTION 1: SCUBA OR WEIGHT-LIFTING WEIGHTS
- best to use the plastic coated ones to reduce chance for pool contamination
- place weights on the bottom “floor-level” panels of the pool structure
- for the larger structures, try and distribute the weight more evenly to ensure stability
- continue to add weights until the platform is completely stable
Advantage: Easy to prepare, easy to remove

Since there is such a wide range of internet and bricks/mortar suppliers across the country, we do not compile lists of dealers

OPTION 2: PLASTIC FILE STORAGE CASE WITH WEIGHTS (Can get at Wal-Mart, Office Depot etc)
- place clean weight products (tiles, bricks, river stones, etc inside plastic case)
- do not use any materials which will contaminate the water in any way
- place the case(s) on a “floor-level” panel of the structure (Get as close to the center as possible)
- depending on the size of the water structure - add more plastic cases to distribute the weight load
- continue to add weights until the platform is completely stable
Advantage: Cheap, easy to prepare, easy to remove

FILLING
When you place the swim structure in the water, most of the air trapped in the tubes will escape though the screw holes and other spaces. If you do not remove the trapped air in the tubes and under the panels, the structure will still be bouyant (Neutral Buoyancy) . By adding the extra weights it achieves Negative Buoyancy and sinks to the bottom

DRAINING
First remove the weights. Then pull the structure to the side of the pool. If it is a small unit, you can pull it out all at once and then leave on the side to drain.

If it is a larger unit, then you may need to move to the shallow end, let some water drain out and then gradually raise it to the side of the pool.
